WE LOVE OUR VETERANS!
Total Vision Care is a Veterans Choice Program (VCP) participant.
The Veterans Choice Program (VCP) is a benefit that allows eligible Veterans to receive health care from a community provider rather than waiting for a VA appointment or traveling to a VA facility.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THIS BENEFIT?
Any Veteran enrolled in VA health care can use VCP benefits if:
- You have more than a 30 day wait for an appointment at your local VA
- You live more than 40 miles from the closest VA medical facility
- You face an unusual or excessive burden in traveling to the closest VA
HOW DO I USE THIS BENEFIT FOR AN EYE EXAM?
If you need an eye exam for glasses and the wait is over 30 days to receive an eye exam at your local VA, call the VCP Call Center at 866-606-8198 or visit the Veterans Choice Program website.
The VCP Call Center will handle your referral and contact a nearby participating optometrist (hopefully Dr. Mayes!) and set up an appointment for you. You will receive a routine vision exam and prescription for glasses at no charge.
In August, 2017 the VA Choice and Quality Employment Act of 2017 was signed which authorized $2.1 billion dollars in funds to continue the program.
